Eldercaring Coordination Programs

Getting Started

Bringing Eldercaring Coordination to YOU
Easy as One-Two-Three!

The court and professionals can initiate an eldercaring coordination program:

Step 1: Identify a Judge, Magistrate, Tribunal who can initiate a Court Order of Referral to Eldercaring Coordination, or attorneys or guardians/conservators who can bring the need to their attention.

Step 2: Identify a liaison/Program Administrator to oversee administrative duties of the program.

Step 3: Identify at least three professionals that meet the eligibility requirements for the Eldercaring Coordinator Training (meet all other qualifications to be an EC).

“The Eldercaring Coordinator can dispel hard-lined positions of parties by separating fact and fiction.  It encourages conversation beyond each party’s ‘story’ and directs the focus to the elder’s wishes and needs and how to accomplish them within the family dynamic.”
— Florida attorney

 Legal Authority & Legislation

Family members who are in conflict, sometimes for many years, may not be motivated to begin working with each other, even for the sake of their aging loved one. The court order of referral to eldercaring coordination provides a degree of accountability for their participation in the process. But where do courts get their authority to refer families to eldercaring coordination?
